Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United America. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she started. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran eventually left the business. Corcoran was one of ABC's first Shark investors has been part of every episode of Shark Tank. She has participated in 53 deals as of February, 2020. The largest was a $350,000 purchase to provide 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of 10 children from a family of Irish Catholics who worked hard, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. his father was a multi-talented employee throughout Corcoran's childhood. Her family sometimes relied on free delivery of food from a friendly local supermarket. Corcoran remembers her father, a man who sometimes drank too much, and treated her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, especially after he'd consumed a few drinks. Corcoran was a troubled student in school. She later discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran started high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood, after she left her Catholic elementary school. After flunking several courses during her freshman year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School and was a D-student when she graduated.
